Project Details
Use of Pervading Internal Shell-Type Substructures to Dissolve Compact Components (C01)
Subject Area
Structural Engineering, Building Informatics and Construction Operation
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 417002380
Complex load-bearing structures can be realised as shell constructions with a very efficient use of materials. The aim of the subproject C01 (Curbach/Scheerer) is to develop a method to replace the compact interior of concrete elements by inner shell structures and thus to exploit the load-bearing effect of shells on a small scale. In addition, internal folded structures are considered. Research will include the design of such components, the analysis of global and local load-bearing and failure mechanisms, their design and construction, and later their manufacture. The solutions developed on various detail levels will be validated by laboratory experiments at different scales.
