Na ion storage and conduction in solid-state inorganic/organic structures
Final Report Abstract
The project was a cooperation project between Prof. Adelhelm (HU Berlin) and Prof. Bhattacharyya (Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore). The research project focused on investigations of solid-state inorganic and organic structures and their implementation as components in sodium-ion batteries. The project was heavily affected by the COVID pandemic which made lab work but especially a more direct cooperation between both partners in Germany and India difficult at the beginning. Nevertheless, many aspects of the project could be successfully addressed. On the German side, the funding was used to support a PhD student for about 3.5 years. This student will submit her PhD thesis in early 2025 and has submitted a first author publication to Batteries and Supercaps (status: submitted, see attachment). The student also presented her research results in a talk at an international conference (2023, ISE Meeting, Lyon) and by poster contributions (Na Battery Symposium and GDCh Electrochemistry). The project results were also continuously presented by the PI on various occasions. With regard to the cooperation, several research visits were undertaken, with the German PI travelling to India twice and the German PhD student spending a period in the laboratory in India. The research project and the visits to India enabled further projects and collaborations with a BMBF project on alloys starting in 1/2025 and a DAAD proposal submitted in 9/2024. Finally, a joint publication between both groups is close to being submitted as well (Title: In-Situ Polymerized Gel Electrolytes for High-Performance Sodium-based Batteries, Authors: Debalina Deb, Sanhita Pal, Yuliia Kravets, Philipp Adelhelm, Aninda J. Bhattacharyya).
