Project Details
Uniaxial- and biaxial-strain-induced phase switching of itinerant AT2X2-type antiferromagnets (A02)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422213477
The project investigates the strain-sensitive antiferromagnetism and strong electronic correlations in Fe- and Co-based AT2X2 compounds. It focuses on the use of extreme anisotropic mechanical stress created via tailored fiberglass and other substrates with large thermomechanical mismatch. The coupling between magnetism and the collapsed tetragonal phase in the (Sr,Ca)Co2As2 series will be studied. The highly correlated state of CsFe2As2 will be tuned to beyond what is otherwise achievable. Experimental methods related to strain-tuning will be carefully compared, evaluated and advanced.
