Project Details
Static and dynamic coupling of lattice and electronic degrees of freedom in magnetically ordered transition metal dichalcogenides (B06)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422213477
In project B06 high-resolution tunneling microscopy in combination with density functional theory will be used to determine the influence of strain and dynamics lattice distortions on the electronic and magnetic properties of 2D transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) layers. This new class of 2D materials offers new mechanisms of coupling of electronic and spin degrees of freedom as well as exotic phenomena related to electron-phonon and electron-magnon interaction. We will find new magnetic TMDs and explore the rich coupling effects between phonons and magnons.
