Project Details
Manipulation of broken-symmetry ground states by transient lattice distortions (B08)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422213477
The project focuses on the interplay between and manipulation of lattice modes and electronic orders in selected solids with particularly strong electron-lattice coupling, utilizing ultrafast optical approaches while also tuning the material properties via external pressure or mechanically induced strain. We target two material classes for collaborative research within the consortium: (i) 122-pnictides, with competition of superconductivity and charge-density-wave order, and (ii) κ-ET organic charge-transfer compounds and Eu-122 systems, where extreme electron-phonon coupling can be realized near their respective critical endpoints.
