Project Details
Geophysical imaging of subsurface properties and magnetostratigraphy of sedimentary records (D07*)
Subject Area
Geophysics
Term
from 2020 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268236062
The subproject focusses on the application and development of geophysical methods, to support the interpretation of new kind of archives and unexplored sites in Chile and Namibia. Our objectives are (1) the application of geophysical imaging techniques at multiple scales, and the development of a flexible inversion algorithm for Transient Electromagnetics using seismic constraints, and (2) the improvement of the age control of sedimentary records using magnetostratigraphy; the development of the first master record of RPI for the Atacama Desert, and the identification of mineral magnetic proxies to unveil details of climatic evolution.
