Project Details
Impact of TH on tanycyte functions and the relevance on central regulation of the liver and hormone uptake (P02)
Subject Area
Pharmacology
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 424957847
Tanycytes are important gatekeepers to transport TH into the CNS. Tanycytes themselves react to TH, which could modulate essential functions of tanycytes, such as their morphology or the transport of hormones. This project will focus on the role of TH in tanycytic functions and will clarify their effects on tanycytic morphology and hormonal transport into the cerebrospinal fluid. Additionally, this project will clarify the importance of local tanycytic distribution of TH into the VMH, which has an influence on liver metabolism.
