Project Details
A brain imaging approach to TH function in consequence to mutations in genes encoding the TH receptors (P07)
Subject Area
Clinical Neurology; Neurosurgery and Neuroradiology
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 424957847
TH action is critical for development and function of the human brain. Its local action is mediated by transporters, deiodinases and two distinct TH receptors (TR). Here, we aim to demonstrate that genetic variations in TRs contribute to the neuropsychological phenotype of humans. By using structural, functional, metabolic brain imaging and machine learning, we aim to identify the underlying systems-level neural mechanisms. Our findings will thus contribute to a better understanding of the local TH actions in the human brain.
