A3 delivers data of the turbulent reactive flow in bulk solids. In addition to the visualisation of the flame reaction zone (methane) with chemiluminescence, spatially highly resolved measurements of the gas phase temperature field and selected species will be carried out by coherent anti Stokes Raman spectroscopy. Two-component Laser Doppler Anemometry will be used to measure the velocity field and phosphor thermometry is applied to determine particle surface temperatures. A two-dimensional flame/particle configuration will be set up to allow for optical access. To address the interaction of species release from particles on the gas flame the calcination of magnesite is examined (release of CO2). The current configuration will allow to better understand the two-way coupling between flame and particles.
