Radiative heat exchange among non-uniformly distributed, polydisperse, complex shaped, moving and reacting solid objects within DEM/CFD (B03)

Subject Area Energy Process Engineering
Term since 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422037413

Radiative heat exchange among non-uniformly distributed, polydisperse, complex shaped, moving and reacting solid objects within DEM/CFD (Schiemann) has the goal of developing models for radiative heat transfer in packed beds. In FP2, the focus will be shifted towards modeling radiation for complex particle shapes and particle movement. The experimental setup will be adapted to complex-shaped cylindrical particles and chemical conversion (MgCO3) for changing surface properties. Measurements with a Fourier Transformation Infrared spectrometer, an infrared camera and thermal phosphors will provide data for modelling.
DFG Programme CRC/Transregios
Project Heads Dr.-Ing. Martin Schiemann; Dr.-Ing. Siegmar Wirtz, until 6/2024
