Molecular switches in the TGFβ signaling pathway (A24)

Project A24 seeks to uncover the intersections of transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) signal transduction and inositol pyrophosphate messengers (PP-InsPs), and to characterize the molecular switches at these intersections. Utilizing advanced mass spectrometry and detailed biochemical analyses, the regulation of SMAD-complexes by PP-InsPs will be investigated and dynamic changes in pyrophosphorylation patterns will be annotated. In addition, we will use the integrative analysis of a lung adenocarcinoma patient cohort to identify and validate molecular switches contributing to cancer development.
