Adipocyte dysfunction in response to excess food intake contributes to a low-grade inflammation, called metaflammation. We hypothesize that primary cilia on pre-adipocytes can sense the metabolic state and control adipocyte function and, thereby, regulate the inflammatory response in the adipose tissue. This project we will provide a comprehensive analysis of how primary cilia regulate metaflammation and combine the knowledge gained from mouse models and human patients.
