Microscopic probes of critical spin fluctuations in 2D magnets (B03)
Subject Area

since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 425217212
The overarching theme of the B03 project is to explore the intrinsic role of spin fluctuations in 2D and confined magnetic oxides, which are emerging as exciting alternatives to the ‘classical’ 2D van-der-Waals systems. Our upcoming goal is to further advance our ability to generate confined 2D magnetic order in oxides by targeted materials design and to detect and eventually control spin fluctuations in these low-dimensional systems. We focus on how to ‘engineer’ magnetic properties in magnetic oxides as a function of dimensionality—and find novel routes to manipulate the emerging 2D states by external parameters, e.g. electric fields.
