The proposed project investigates the integration of formally not pedagogically qualified em-ployees - "laypeople" - into all-day schools by combining in a mixed-method design three partial studies. In the light of the increasing quantitative importance of this group in extra cur-ricula activities and the focus of the professional discourse on school transiting to a multi-professional organization, there is a need for empirical research that examine this develop-ment: the tendency to " laicization" school activities that are located outside the classroom in the afternoon but are part of all-day schooling. The three partial studies combine (a) a quanti-tative survey on a socio-spatial level with (b) qualitative network analyses and (c) reconstruc-tions of the pedagogical habitus of laypeople. The study will be conducted in two different social environments in the federal state of Lower Saxony. The aim is to formulate the first steps of an explorative theory on the "pedagogical laicization of all-day schooling".
