In this project, we aim to develop a new platform to investigate the cooperative interplay between photons, phonons and magnons by means of microscopic particles of yttrrium-iron-garnet (YIG). Since YIG particles are not only ferrimagnetic but also transparent they can be trapped inside a hollow-core photonic crystal fibre by optical tweezer techniques. This will ensure efficient light-matter interactions, whilst allowing operating one single particle or trapping a chain of particles and explore their collective cooperativity via the optical binding effect. The initial exploratory experiments will provide a secure basis for subsequent studies of quantum cooperativity at the single photon, phonon and magnon level.
