The device applied for is an electrodynamic testing machine with a load capacity of 10 kN and the option to superimpose multiaxial loads. A dynamic optical strain control enables the contactless recording of strain values as well as the control of the machine in the high-frequency range. By integrating a temperature chamber, dynamic-mechanical tests can be carried out at different temperatures. The testing machine is to be used primarily in the cyclical material testing of composite materials and hybrid materials. Focus lays on performing dynamic mechanical analyzes as well as fatigue experiments on hybrid materials with comparatively large representative volumes. This approach is crucial in order to be able to take material inhomogeneities into account. Fiber-reinforced plastics and hybrid composites consisting of fiber-reinforced plastics and metals are primarily intended as materials, but the system should also be able to test other material classes (e.g. purely metallic samples, fiber reinforced ceramics). The mechanical characterization provides important material parameters for setting up material models and for predicting the service life of hybrid materials with coupled mechanical-thermal load. The testing machine, hence, forms a link between classic dynamic mechanical analyzes and purely mechanically based fatigue testing.
