A central goal of this Research Unit is the collaboration between the different research groups involved, and the communication with adjacent researchers/groups and the cold atom and strong correlations communities. Within the first funding period, we have organized regular meetings and two conferences with strong international contribution (Leiden and München) as well as exchange of scientists, especially on the PhD-level. The international conferences have received widespread recognition in the international science community and have been extremely well attended, including prominent researchers in the field. An important aspect has also been the individual project- and task-oriented exchange of knowledge within the Research Unit, again, performed on all levels with especially very fruitful exchange on the PhD- and post-doc level. Of course, the publication of results in high ranking journals and the presentation of results at international conferences are key aspects in the distribution of knowledge achieved within the Research Unit.In the second funding period, we want to continue the fruitful networking via the established measures and add additional actions. As a novel element, we plan to install regular ‘young researchers meetings’ where the PhD-students of the Research Unit meet. The students will organize these meetings on their own, and they will be given the opportunity to invite international guests to the meetings. In addition to two conferences with international contributions, similar to the successful ones in the first funding period, we want to organize a larger conference at the end of the second funding period to communicate with an even broader international audience and also to present central aspects of the Research Unit within this larger frame.
