In P08 we will investigate the hypothesis that ccRCC tumours co-opt the process of normal tissue repair as a mechanism of tumour suppressor- and oncogene-driven immune escape. Aim 1 will characterize the link between tubular repair and immune checkpoint ligand expression in mouse and human ccRCCs, Aims 2 and 3 involve pre-clinical studies in a mouse ccRCC model and in human ccRCC fragmentoid and slice culture systems to determine which immune checkpoint ligands represent the major immunosuppressive barriers in ccRCC. We ultimately aim to tailor immunotherapy to the specific features of each individual ccRCC.
