Project Details
Extending and controlling lymphocyte functionalities by engineered cytokines (A04)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 452881907
Lymphocytes depend on cytokines to regulate and control their diverse functions. Cytokine and receptor engineering thus provide key opportunities for current key challenges in adoptive immunotherapy. We will develop immune-activating cytokines with less side effects that will enhance lymphocyte functionality. Additionally, we will engineer novel cytokine:receptor systems to control lymphocyte functions and develop tools to deplete tumor-promoting cytokines. Taken together, in close collaboration with other groups of this consortium, we will leverage cytokine and receptor engineering for more effective and safer cell therapies.
