Project Details
Coarse-grained simulation of the role of local environment on presynaptic release: from fusion to fission (C06)
Subject Area
Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Systems, Soft and Fluid Matter, Biological Physics
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 317475864
Our previous work identified key environmental factors that prevent the radial expansion of the fusion pore and the subsequent collapse of the SV into the plasma membrane. In this period, we will focus on the role of proteins, such as SNAREs and dynamins. We will investigate synaptic release mechanisms, varying the number and placement of proteins, and compare our results to ultrastructural and fluorescence imaging experiments, from other projects within CRC1286.
