Project Details
Monitoring and Exploiting Short-Lived Intermediates in Assembly-Controlled Photocatalytic Processes (A05)
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 444632635
Benefits for photocatalysis by circumventing limitations related to short-lived excited states are scrutinized. The photocatalytic potential of pre-coordinated species, realized through dispersion interactions, binding to metal centers, hydrogen bonding, geminate formation, and confining environments, is studied by time-resolved spectroscopy (femtoseconds to minutes) in the UV/Vis and IR spectral range combined with variation of temperature, pressure and external fields. Via the essential close collaboration within the CRC the time-resolved studies will also contribute to the overall understanding of other projects.
