Project Details
Composition and variability of UTLS refractory aerosol and ice-nucleating particles (A06)
Subject Area
Atmospheric Science
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 428312742
The project aims to realize representative sampling of UTLS refractory particles and determination of their size, chemical composition and mixing state. Source apportionment of these particles will be performed with help of source modeling and backward trajectory calculations. Determination of mixing state will allow the identification of particle processing in the atmosphere. By this work, it will be possible to identify main pathways of particulate components towards UT/LS and to contribute to the questions on how surface emissions influence the UT/LS aerosol. Implications for optical properties and in this way for the radiation budget can be estimated.
