Project Details
Moist convection and tracer transport into and out of the Asian Summer Monsoon Anticyclone (B03)
Subject Area
Atmospheric Science
Term
since 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 428312742
Building on the insights gained during Phase I of B03, our objective is to investigate the role of the Asian Summer Monsoon Anticyclone (ASMA) and the influence of the Third Pole region's complex terrain on trace species exchange with the UTLS. Key goals include identifying dominant transport mechanisms, identifying hotspots region for trace species transport to the UTLS, and refining parameterizations for turbulence and convection over the ASMA region. This will be achieved through the ICON-CLM and ICON-LES simulations, Lagrangian tracing, complemented by evaluations using remote sensing data over the South Asian CORDEX domain.
