This project combines reanalysis-driven model and climate model data with aircraft in-situ observations (from partner projects) and satellite observations into consistent climatologies to consolidate on the dominant transport pathways and time scales into the UTLS. Furthermore, variability and long-term trends in the different pathways will be quantified using robust statistical methods. Finally, the sensitivity of the representation of UTLS transport and composition with respect to the used model transport scheme will be assessed within a consistent model set-up including both Eulerian and Lagrangian transport.
