The aim of the project is to publish the "Mecklenburg Dictionary" (the "Wossidlo-Teuchert"), one of the large-scale dialect dictionaries, via the Trier dictionary network and to provide access to its sources. The full-text digitization required for this is to be realized by double-keying. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Trier Center for Digital Humanities and the University of Rostock (Rostock University Library, the Chair of Low German Language and Literature, the Wossidlo Research Center for European Ethnology/Volkskunde and the Chair of Database and Information Systems). Pivot points are the Low German lemmas of the dictionary, which are transferred into High German and marked up with TEI/P5. To make the usage more practical, the lemmas are linked to a semantic term network. This is available in the thesaurus of Richard Wossidlo's collection, which was put online in the DFG project "WossiDiA". In the Trier dictionary network, the High German lemmas can be compared with the lemmas of the regional language dictionaries and other dictionaries there. Up to now, no large Low German dictionary has been networked here, which is why the project will lead the way for a digital network of Low German dialect dictionaries. For the conception of these perspective networking possibilities a workshop is requested. The claim to develop the dictionary into a corpus-based vocabulary information system meets the latest developments in Internet lexicography. A favorable starting point for this is WossiDiA, the digital Wossidlo archive, in which (with currently 1.85 million digital images) the spoken language handwritten sources in the folkloristic collection context are presented online. The University Library will digitize additional survey material as well as printed works cited in the dictionary with a large contribution of its own. Developed in cooperation between the folklorist and language collector Wossidlo and the dialectologist and language researcher Hermann Teuchert, the dictionary presents a very high proportion of regional ethnographic sources in addition to Low German vocabulary. It exemplarily combines the characteristics of a large-scale regional dictionary with the character of an ethnographic-historiographic encyclopedia. However, WossiDiA has so far been profiled for mainly ethnographic use. With the connection to the lemmas of the dictionary, it is made usable as a linguistic-ethnographic research tool. Thus, the knowledge base fixed in the dictionary is dynamized as well as opened for new research questions and retrieval scenarios of Internet lexicography, while ethnology and other branches of knowledge can overcome regional language hurdles.
