Project Details
Structure and evolution of protein fibers at the bacterial cell surface (B04)
Subject Area
Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term
from 2007 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 32152271
We intend to perform a structural and functional analysis of mempromCC, a new protein family comprising of prokaryotic and mitochondrial membrane associated coiled coil proteins. We will perform a comprehensive bioinformatic analysis with regard to phylogeny, sequence conservation and domain structure. From the combination of this analysis with structural data and the results of binding and knock-out experiments, we expect information concerning the cellular function of these proteins. Based on these results, we intend to perform a comparative functional analysis of prokaryotic and eukaryotic homologs in yeast mitochondria.
