Accelerated Development of Hybrid nanOporous Compounds for indoor air quality monitoring (ADHOC)

An integrated high-throughput synthesis/sorption/modelling strategy will be implemented to develop hybrid nanoporous compounds for the selective adsorption of tetrachloroethylene (C2Cl4), one of the most ubiquitous contaminants of indoor air, soil and groundwater, with however no effective capture solution so far. This unprecedented methodology will allow the preparation and structure characterization of a large series of highly stable Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) concomitant with a rapid experimental/computational assessment of their C2Cl4 sorption properties in terms of affinity, uptake capacity, eco-friendly regenerative ability and selectivity over H2O. The incorporation of the best MOFs to electromechanical or electrical transductors will be further envisaged as a proof of concept for sensing applications. Two groups working synergistically in hybrid porous materials synthesis, structure determination, sorption (CAU) and modelling, sensing (ICGM) will be involved.
