TU Dortmund University as an international research university has been committed to the adoption of its Open Access Declaration in 2015 to promote the free and permanent availability of scientific knowledge. This goal can be achieved in particular through Open Access. In order to increase the visibility of research results of its members, TU Dortmund University supports its researchers both through infrastructural services and financially. The financial support grounds on three pillars: the publication fund for articles in in genuine open access journals, membership contracts and transformation contracts. The decisive factor for researchers to receive financial support is the high-quality of the publication organs. The coordination of all Open Access activities is anchored in the University Library. The cross-departmental business processes that have been developed and continuously optimized at the University Library in recent years aim to ensure transparent and efficient invoice processing as well as the efficient use of resources. This is important preparatory work for the creation of a virtual information budget, which is to be introduced during the application period. To this end, the University Library will set up a working group together with the Corporate Center Finance and Procurement to design efficient processes. In the future, all invoices that arise in the context of publications will be processed at the University Library, analogous to the procurement of literature, for which this process has already been established for over 10 years. In order to further optimize the existing comprehensive advisory services, the University Library's internal cooperation with several administrative areas of TU Dortmund University and the faculties will be continuously expanded.
