FeNC catalysts, with molecular FeN4 centres, exhibit a very good performance for the oxygen reduction reaction in fuel cells. The catalysts; however, usually contain sidephases as Fe/FeO clusters. In further work, a synergetic effect of smallest Pt amounts on catalysis is discussed. So far, both aspects are rather unexplored. In consequence, in the center of this project we will examine the influence of such particles M (M = metal: Fe, Pt, Sn) on the structural characteristics of molecular FeN4Lxcentres by different spectroscopies. The results will be correlated with the catalytic properties and it will be investigated to what extent the conclusions can be transferred to FeNC catalysts.
