Trajectories, Networks and Places of Disparate Infrastructures: Spatial Figures, Attitudes and Social Inequalities (A06*)
Subject Area
Empirical Social Research
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290045248
This new subproject investigates to what extent everyday-life experiences of spatial environments in relation to central infrastructures have an impact on attitudes towards social justice and issues connected to redistribution, as well as on assessments of existing inequalities, which are increasingly polarized and therefore seem to drive refiguration processes. Looking specifically at respondents’ places of residence and work, the project analyzes relationships, interconnections and overlaps between these places using SOEP data and external geospatial data. It thereby provides valuable insights into the relationship between space and social inequality und explores the role of spatial figures and processes of refiguration related to socio-spatial polarizations with reference to the normative knowledge of space.
