Project Details
Urban Planning and Microclimate Regimes: The Urban Microclimate Regime: How Elementary Forces Shape Urban Climate Adaptation Policies (C05)
Subject Area
Social and Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 290045248
The subproject’s objective is to investigate the spatial logics and dynamics inherent in urban microclimate regimes. Research questions focus on how elementary forces (wind, water, and solar radiation) are currently being mobilized in urban planning methodologies and climate adaptation technologies, and how they are integrated into urban infrastructures. The research explores how "elementary solutions" contribute to the refiguration of urban spaces (on both conceptual and material levels) by challenging and transforming existing spatial figurations.
