The commentary on the Catholic letters is the most extensive work in the œuvre of Theoderic of Fleury/Amorbach (c. 960 - after 1018) and remains unedited to this day. The aim of the proposed project is therefore a complete critical edition taking into account all known manuscripts. Along with the edition, a source analysis of the text will be undertaken, which will allow the relevance of the work within the commentary tradition to be demonstrated. The commentary is of particular importance because it is not a compilation from the Church Fathers, but a largely independent commentary on the Bible verses. This gives it a special position in the early medieval exegesis of the Catholic letters. In order to take account of the emerging interest in Theoderic in research and to make the work accessible to a wider specialist audience in an interdisciplinary way, a complete translation of the text with a Latin reading text is also made digitally accessible.
