In project P05, the conformational dynamics of microbial rhodopsins will be studied using time-resolved UV/vis and IR spectroscopy manipulated by multipulse techniques. These optical control patterns will be applied to protein assemblies and networks. We also aim to establish optogenetically relevant carotenoid-based voltage indicators and to monitor their function using spectroscopic and imaging techniques.
