Project Details
Metabolic regulation of the endothelial cell damage responses (A02)
Subject Area
Anatomy and Physiology
Term
since 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 456687919
Metabolic reprogramming of endothelial cells co-determines their response to injury and the decision to promote or inhibit angiogenesis. This project addresses the hypothesis that sub-clusters of cardiac endothelial cells with unique metabolic signatures drive vascular responses to cardiac damage via the regulation of chromatin accessibility and gene transcription. We aim to determine whether endothelial 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (Slc19a1) and cystine (Slc7a11) transporters which are highly expressed in a sub-cluster of cardiac endothelial cells during the acute phase of injury, regulate endothelial transcription through histone modifications to drive cardiac revascularization.
