The project will continue the study of the first two years. Additional fluids will be used in order to extend the parameter range of the impact process. Special experiments are planned with liquid helium. For this case, the influence of viscosity can be neglected. The global aim is still the identification of the most important parameters, which have influence on the impact of drops on solid surfaces. The wettability and wall roughness, respectively wall structure, are of special interest in this connection. Compared to the former proposal, the working program has been extended to numerical simulations on basis of direct solving of the Navier-Stokes equations. Previous made simulations look promising. However, the use of dynamic border angle is still open for improvement, which is one of the aims of this project.
