The role of non-canonical NF-κB signaling in Treg cells in tissue homeostasis and disease (A08)

Our project focuses non-canonical NF-κB signaling in Treg function. In our preliminary experiments, we revealed that NIK regulates Treg development and maintenance, especially in the colon. Moreover, we also found that the expression of IκBζ, a known co-factor of canonical NF-κB signaling, is regulated by NIK in Treg cells. However, the role of IκBζ in Treg cell function has largely not been addressed yet. Thus, we will investigate the role and function of NIK, p52, and IκBζ in Treg development and function, especially in the colon and during colitis. Furthermore, we will investigate the interaction and crosstalk of NIK, p52 and IκBζ in Treg cells on the molecular level.
