Deciphering genetic regulatory effects of nucleic acid immunity in human dendritic cell populations (B29*)

Subject Area Immunology
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 369799452

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are a key player of antiviral immunity. We hypothesize that genetic regulation of pDCs plays an important role in nucleic acid immunity and helps explaining antiviral response and autoimmune variability. The overarching goal of the proposed project is to elucidate genetic regulatory effects of nucleic acid immunity in pDCs that will improve our understanding of human antiviral response variation and pinpoint undiscovered disease pathways of autoimmune diseases. Better understanding of the genetic basis of nucleic acid immunity will allow tailored treatment and prevention approaches and accelerate the path to precision medicine.
