Molecular gas spectroscopy across nearby galaxies (B03)

B3 studies molecular gas physical conditions and their role in regulating star formation across and among local galaxies, from gas-rich high-metallicity local disc galaxies to the low-metallicity Magellanic Clouds by focusing on new observations with the FYST telescope. We will explore [CI] as an alternative and robust molecular gas tracer, spatially resolved CO excitation by including mid-J CO observations into existing low-J data sets and the density structure via density-sensitive molecular line ensembles. These analyses will yield key new insights into the regulation of star formation on sub-kpc scales in the local universe.
