The project aims to unfold the possibilities of a poetics of rhythm, which have not yet been fully exploited by literary studies, both systematically and historically. It combines the literary-theoretical question of the fundamental significance of rhythm for poetics, here generally understood as the theory and practice of poetry, with that of concrete historical discursive formations of poetry from modernity to the present. The project operates in a risky manner by taking rhythm, a central and underestimated concept for poetics, as its subject within the framework of a comparative approach in order to give poetics a new impulse.
