Project Details
Death pores: decision-making at the execution step of regulated necrosis (A10)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 471011418
Terminal execution is a distal decision in regulated cell death. This project will investigate how terminal execution of pyroptosis and necroptosis are regulated by a balanced activation of pore-forming proteins and membrane repair. Using optogenetic approaches to activate pore-forming proteins, the project will study the extent of plasma membrane permeabilization that a cell can tolerate during pyroptosis and necroptosis induction before the decision to die is made.
