Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 528033031

The main goal of this project is to develop efficient algorithms to solve real-time decision-making problems arising in such applications as motion planning of autonomous vehicles and energy management in Smart Grid. This project promises to bring together technological advancement of modern autonomous driving as well as of energy systems and powerful theoretical tools, such as distributed optimization, game theory, online learning, robust and stochastic optimization techniques, applicable to problems at different stages of modeled scenarios. Achieving this goal will enable efficient and safe behavior of vehicles over roads as well as an improvement in operation of energy systems in terms of their cost-effectiveness and stability. The project team will follow this goal by considering a realistic urban environment model in Research Part A as well as modern multi-level Smart Grid representation in Research Part B and proposing appropriate optimization algorithms and game-theoretic methods with integrated environmental changes to solve a complex problem of real-time decision-making with which strategic agents face in each of applications.
