Contribution of microglia cell death to tau pathology in Alzheimer’s disease and other tauopathies (A13*)

Tauopathies, like Alzheimer’s disease (AD), are severe neurodegenerative diseases characterized by progressive neuronal tau aggregation and chronic activation of microglia. The contribution of microglia cell death, Gasdermin pore formation and released inflammatory factors to tauopathies remains elusive. In this project, we will investigate mechanisms of tau-induced microglial cell death in conjunction with analyzing tau- and Gasdermin-dependent secretion of inflammatory factors in tauopathies.
