Project Details
Process-level Understanding of Sublimation and Evaporation of Precipitation (E05*)
Subject Area
Atmospheric Science
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268020496
The vaporation of rain and sublimation of snowfall between cloud base and the surface are common processes in the Arctic. Here, we propose to quantify evaporation and sublimation at different Arctic sites and identify which small and large scale forcings affect the process. We will improve sublimation in atmospheric models and investigate how changes in humidity and temperature profiles caused by sublimation feed back to clouds.
