EVALIMPACT: Impacts of Evaluations in spatial policy fields

Subject Area Urbanism, Spatial Planning, Transportation and Infrastructure Planning, Landscape Planning
Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 533058785

The aim of this research project is to investigate which factors influence the use and the other impacts (especially process impacts) of evaluations in policy-fields with spatial relevance. Based on a frame, which was developed from evaluation-impact-research in other policy-fields, several evaluations in six policy-fields with spatial relevance are compared: Regional/structural policy, urban development policy, urban regeneration policy spatial planning, traffic policy and environment policy. In these policy fields the evaluation types ex-ante, ongoing-, und expost-have different importance. The following leading questions are in focus: • Descriptive differentiation: Which forms of use exist in the policy-fields with spatial importance and which variations in central structural attributes of evaluations exist in Germany? • Development of a impact-model: which factors explain the several forms of use and other political impacts in the policy-fields with spatial importance and different evaluation types? On the foundation of a covering survey of evaluations eight y-variable-centered case studies following a causal-process-trancing design will be carried out, to clear the leading questions 1 and 2.
