Project Details
LC/MS2 Setup for Standard, as well as High Sensitivity Proteomics Work-Flows
Subject Area
Basic Research in Biology and Medicine
Term
Funded in 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 533391421
The global analysis of protein mixtures using mass spectrometry-based methods hasevolved into a corner stone of biomedical research. At the Department of Medicine ofthe Philipps-Universität of Marburg, such analyses are intensively used and performedin cooperation with the Service Group Mass Spectrometry and Elemental Analysis atthe Department of Chemistry. The current sample spectrum ranges in complexity andcorrelated analytical demand from affinity purified protein complexes, via whole cell andtissue lysates to global analyses of post-translational modifications (PTMs).In the context of the new establishment of an Institute and Core Facility of TranslationalProteomics at the Department of Medicine (since 10.2021), a high resolution massspectrometer setup is targeted including liquid chromatography. The instruments are in-tended to a) expand existing instrument capacity, which is currently insufficient to meethigh and growing demand and b) extend capabilities towards tackling analytes of ex-tremely low availability, in particular single cell proteomics approaches.
