The Production of Climate Flight as an Occasion for Theorisation (C05)

Against the backdrop of predictions of climate change-induced loss of human settlement spaces, the project examines "climate flight" (or "forced climate migration", "climate mobility" etc.) as recent and open-ended production of migration. Based on case studies in key arenas of negotiation (research collaborations, self-organization of affected states, legal precedents, transnational infrastructures), it analyzes the production of a migration form "climate flight" (or similar) - or ist failure. This serves as a starting point for theorizing the interrelation of the key media of the production of migration - space, figure, infrastructure.
