Peroxisomes are essential organelles whose defects can lead to aberrant brain development and neurodegeneration. Their interplay with mitochondria contributes to safeguarding cellular homeostasis. This project will aim to elucidate new insights in peroxisome quality control and turnover by different forms of pexophagy, the regulation of this process during aging and in disease, and the impact on cooperating organelles like mitochondria.
