Autophagy in bone marrow adipocytes and its effect on healthy and malignant hematopoiesis and ageing (F13*)

This project builds on the original observation that loss of autophagy in the bone marrow microenvironment (BMM) significantly impacts healthy hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell differentiation, and may favor the progression of clonal hematopoieisis and leukemia. This project will substantially advance the molecular and functional understanding of selective autophagy in the BMM with a particular focus on adipocytes, and its impact on normal, malignant and aging hematopoiesis.
