The data to be measured in this project will comprise geothermal borehole measurements in the Chicxulub CSDP - drill hole and laboratory measurements of thermal properties as well as of supplementary petrophysical properties on core samples of this borehole. The data will be interpreted with special regard to the shock impact effects on the petrophysical properties of the rocks with emphasis on porosity and hydraulic permeability. Petrophysical logs, which will be performed in addition to the thermal logs by the Operational Service, will be incorporated into the interpretation. By recording the temperature recovery to undisturbed conditions after finish of drilling operations, information about the in situ thermal conductivity and diffusivity will be obtained by reference to the independently measured petrophysical logs and to the laboratory data. Possible hydraulic effects in the measured temperature profiles will be simulated by thermo-hydraulic model calculations using FD- and FE-methods. In narrow cooperation with the geothermal CSDP-project proposed by J. Safanda (Czech Academy of Sciences) and in a close contact to the geothermal group of the GFZ Potsdam the project will contribute to the major scientific goals of CSDP.
