The international ICDP (International Continental Scientific Drilling Program) is the platform for scientific research drilling on continents. The ICDP Science Plan 2020-2030, titled ‘Billions of Years of Earth Evolution’, highlights four four primary areas of focus: i) Geodynamic Processes; ii) Geohazards; iii) Georesources; and iv) Environmental Change. German scientists are heavily involved in approximately two-thirds of all ICDP projects as principal investigators (PIs) or co-principal investigators (Co-PIs). Funding through the DFG SPP ICDP is the basis for the significant participation of German scientists in international drilling programs. This proposal aims to continue coordinating the DFG SPP ICDP. We intend to coordinate national efforts and projects, support communication at the national and international levels by organizing workshops and meetings, develop new international initiatives, and promote the participation of German scientists in these activities. The coordination office will also monitor ongoing international and national ICDP projects. Further intensifying cooperation with the IODP3 Coordination Office and supporting Early Career Scientists will remain central concerns in the coming funding period.
